In October 2008, the HR Council shared a story from Alberta where momentum is building to strike a provincial workforce council for the voluntary and non-profit sector, an initiative that is being spearheaded by the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (ECVO) and the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO).

Since that time, senior non-profit sector staff and other key stakeholders from across the province have formed a steering committee to develop the foundations for this provincial workforce council. The steering committee has developed a draft Terms of Reference document that creates a framework for the initial development of the council while leaving room for members to further define the appropriate roles, responsibilities and working structures. It is anticipated that the Council will hold its inaugural meeting in June 2009.

En octobre 2008, Perspectives a présenté un article au sujet de l’Alberta où les circonstances sont propices au lancement d’un Conseil provincial sur la main-d’œuvre du secteur communautaire, une initiative menée par les organismes Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (ECVO) et Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO).

Depuis lors, des cadres supérieurs du secteur communautaire et d’autres intervenants clés de la province ont mis sur pied un comité directeur qui est chargé de jeter les bases du Conseil provincial sur la main-d’œuvre. Le comité directeur a rédigé un document provisoire pour préciser le mandat de ce Conseil afin de définir un cadre pour son développement initial tout en laissant aux membres la latitude de définir plus en profondeur les rôles et les responsabilités de chacun, de même que les structures de travail. On prévoit que le Conseil tiendra sa réunion inaugurale en juin 2009.
