Alberta non-profit resources featured in Workforce Initiatives Inventory

November 10, 2009

(Nov. 4, 2009) The Alberta Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Workforce Council has recently developed the Workforce Initiatives Inventory as a tool for non-profit organizations with a goal of providing organizations with the ability to obtain and share resources about various non-profit initiatives throughout Alberta.

The inventory will allow organizations to search for initiatives to help with workforce and human resources management challenges, and provide a forum to share their workforce projects and initiatives with the sector. The initiatives have been organized into four categories: Leadership Development, Information and Research, Shared Services and Human Resources Management.

The inventory features two HR Council resources: The HR Management Standards and the HR Toolkit, both of which fell under the Human Resources Management category. Both resources are national in scope and are designed to help organizations on a developmental level.

The HR Management Standards
The HR Management Standards are intended to inspire, educate and support board members, managers and employees with regard to the fundamental role HR management policies and practices have in creating effective organizations. The Standards are designed to assist non-profit organizations in developing effective HR management policies and practices.

The HR Toolkit
A comprehensive online resource designed to better understand, address and manage issues relating to HR in non-profit organizations.
